5.7-Liter HEMI V-8 With eTorque

Its counterpart 4×2 version generates 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. It can also tow a maximum of 20,000 pounds and has a payload of 3,160 pounds. 6.7-Liter Cummins Turbo Diesel 16 Engine Aisin Six-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Ram 4500 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel chassis cab has 360 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque output for the 4×4 truck. It also boasts a maximum towing capacity of 37,500 pounds and 29,370 pounds maximum trailering capacity. The 4×2 model has a horsepower of 360 horsepower, 800 pound-feet of torque, and 29,970 pounds trailering capacity. It is also available in Laramie, STL, Tradesman, and Limited trims.

Ram 5500 Trim

The same engine on the Ram 5500 4×4 chassis cab has a horsepower of 360, 800 pound-feet of torque, a maximum trailering capacity of 34,800 pounds, and a GCWR of 43,000 pounds. Its 4×2 version has an output of 360 horsepower, 800 pound-feet of torque, a 35,500 trailering capacity, and 43,000 GCWR. It is also available in Laramie, STL, Tradesman, and Limited trims. 

Hazards of Using the Wrong Fuel in Ram Trucks

It is important to ensure that you use the right fuel in the right engine. For instance, putting gasoline in a Ram truck that uses EcoDiesel can be detrimental to your engine. Gasoline engines cannot combust diesel fuel and vice versa. Diesel is low in octane, and when used in a gasoline engine, it causes roughness and the engine can knock. Likewise, putting diesel in a gasoline engine may cause misfiring because the gasoline engine causes high compression. When such a mistake happens in both cases, avoid turning your vehicle’s ignition “on” and get it towed to the garage.
