We Have Spied the New 2019 Ram Lineup Just for You

2019 Ram 1500 in Lewisville, TXIf you’re like us, you’re probably already wondering about the next generation of Ram 1500 pickup trucks. We’ve heard they are likely to have some lighter materials combined with the usual steel, which should increase the fuel economy and improve load capacity. Some models will gain needed cab space, and others will have some exterior design changes.
The new 2019 lineup is scheduled to go into production in early January 2018, at the Sterling Heights assembly plant, which is a major change from the traditional Warren plant. We at Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Lewisville can’t wait to see the results, but here is what we know so far regarding the new 2019 Ram lineup.

Exterior

In hopes of improving aerodynamics, the 2019 Rams will apparently have grilles that are not quite as tall as in years past. The large Rebel tailgate letters might be replaced by the Ram logo or some smaller letters, but the popular big rig design will stay prevalent. We’re told the headlights will be smaller and integrated into the grille, with horizontal fog lights extending down into the bumper.

Interior

Most things in the interior are likely to stay where they are, with the possible exception of the climate control and stereo systems. However, we expect some restyling, such as a flatter center console that will provide more space. Chrysler is hoping to provide rear and middle seats in its new-generation trucks and SUVs that may fold completely into the floors creating an almost flat surface. The feature could be helpful for sleeping on long road trips or to allow additional cargo space of smaller items.

Under the Hood

There is buzz that the diesel will move to a higher towing capacity through improved cooling and other engine changes. There’s also talk of a newly designed turbo 5.7 that could increase power to near 392 levels but without the bulk and weight. Designers says that the turbo six will provide enough power to replace the current 5.7 Hemi.
What we know for sure is that base models will mostly have six-speed automatic transmissions, but upgrades will have the option of eight-speed. Also, this will be the first Ram available with a direct injection gasoline V6 engine, and an innovative 48 volt electrical system may be used on all trims.
It’s clear that the beloved Ram 1500 truck is getting a major overhaul, and it’s time because the current generation was introduced back in 2009. Larger cabin space, better aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, along with more power should provide an awesome new line up. Look for the new 2019 Rams to make their debut early in 2018 at the famous North American International Auto Show in Detroit. We expect pricing to remain similar to the current models and 2019 inventory should arrive in mid-2018. Of course, if you need a new truck before then, we are happy to help you. We have some great incentives for closing out 2017 models, so come down to the dealership and see for yourself.
