The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 has the strength to take on any challenge. The new truck has exceptional off-road capability and improved efficiency. The exterior of the new Ram 1500 is a combination of bold design, advanced technology, and smart cargo management, which makes it an exceptional truck. The interior includes up-to-date technology and stylish leather work, making it a luxurious truck. Let’s take a look at some of the best features.
Roomier Cabin
The new truck has more storage and space than previous models. The legroom for rear seats has been increased to 45.2 inches in the new crew-cab models. The panoramic sunroof extends over both front and rear seats. There are more than 100 safety and security features in the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 as well. For instance, the steel frame was redesigned to improve the strength of the truck.
Greater Power and Performance
The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 has two types of engines: Hemi and Pentastar. Hemi is a 395-hp, 5.7-liter engine, while Pentastar is a 305-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The combination of the two engines gives it an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ram has adopted the eTorque system by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles where a motor/generator unit replaces the alternator. It can feed energy to a lithium-ion battery pack of 48 volts. The new technology is optional on Ram 1500 models with pushrod V-8 but standard on V-6 models. The eTorque provides a torque boost of 130 lb-ft to V-8 Rams and 90 lb-ft to V-6 models. Behind the rear seats, a small battery pack is mounted, which gets energy feeds from the regenerative braking.
Lighter Exterior
The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is both stronger and lighter. The truck’s ladder-type frame is made of high-strength steel which has reduced the weight by 100 pounds, and the following new design features also contribute to the truck’s lighter weight: aluminum components such as transmission crossmembers, front-suspension, steering gear, engine mounts, and the tailgate. Moreover, the new electrically-assisted power-steering mechanism is 6 pounds lighter than the previous one, and the new electronic parking-brake system is 20 pounds lighter than the cable-operated unit in older models.
Enhanced Design
The wheelbase is 4.1 inches longer in the crew-cab models with the standard box ride, which is 3.9 inches longer from stem to stern. Every 2019 Ram 1500 is fractionally higher and half an inch wider than older models. As compared to the standard 2019 Ram 1500, the new 4×4 Off-Road package has 1.0-inch higher suspension lift, skid plates, rear-fender decals, off-road tires, electronically locking rear differential, hill-descent control, and package-specific damper tuning.
State-of-the-Art Entertainment
The redesigned interior of the truck also includes the 12.0-inch touchscreen Uconnect 4 infotainment system. It includes Apple CarPlay compatibility, Android Auto, and a navigation system which can display information in both split-screen and full-screen formats. Ram has successfully combined the showmanship of a large touchscreen display with the ease of use of Uconnect. Such large touchscreen displays are only found in luxury cars. The stylish physical buttons surround the display of the amazing touchscreen infotainment system by FCA. The buttons are designed for easy control of the climate and key infotainment functions.
