White 209 Jeep Wrangler off-roading in sandIf you’re in the market for a vehicle that handles rough terrain with ease, one of the best options you can buy is the Jeep Wrangler. This capable SUV is rugged, powerful, and extremely appealing to those who like to enjoy weekend adventures. Take a look at some of the features available in the 2019 model.

Power Beneath the Hood

Across all trim levels of the 2019 Wrangler, you’ll get a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 260 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. It works with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, although an eight-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. You can also upgrade to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 295 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. This unit pairs with an eight-speed automatic and works with Jeep’s mild-hybrid eTorque system. Jeep plans to release a 3.0-liter diesel engine as an option at some point as well.

Off-Roading Features

Although the Sport model is the base trim, it still comes with a few features designed for off-roading. These include fog lights, skid plates, a full-size spare tire, 17-inch steel wheels, a fold-down windshield, removable full metal doors, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. The Moab trim is better for off-roading thanks to its LED exterior lighting, limited-slip differential, rock rails, a steel front bumper, black exterior trim, and a body-colored hardtop.
The Rubicon is the most capable of the trim levels, so it’s the one to choose if you plan to spend a lot of your time on trails or rocky terrain. Features include heavy-duty front and rear axles, electronic front and rear lockable differentials, rock rails, 17-inch alloy wheels outfitted with off-roading tires, a steel front bumper, and an electronically disconnecting front roll bar. You can add additional options, including a higher-quality soft top and a premium Alpine audio system.

Comfort and Safety Elements

Even when you’re on the trails, it’s nice to have a comfortable cabin that has the features you want. The base trim has a 5-inch touch screen with the Uconnect infotainment system, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, cloth upholstery, and air conditioning. You can get upgraded features in the higher trim levels, such as automatic climate control, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and navigation. On the tech side, you can get a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a larger 8.4-inch touch screen.
Every Wrangler has a rearview mirror, while the Moab trim level comes with rear parking sensors. A new Advanced Safety Group package is optional on all but the base trim and includes forward-collision warning and adaptive cruise control.
