Sounds of Lewisville & Fireworks

Founded in 1991, the Sounds of Lewisville concert series is a local tradition that provides families with free summer entertainment. You can find the concerts in the Wayne Ferguson Plaza every Tuesday during June and July. Though the event puts on concerts throughout the summer, they offer a special addition to help you celebrate Independence Day. On July 5 this year you can enjoy music from Reflective Soul and Ashmore Classic Rock. Following the concerts, enjoy the fireworks accompanied by the sounds of the LHS orchestra.
4th of July Weekend in Denton
The 4th of July Weekend event in Denton is a three-day-long series of activities that offer fun for the whole family just 20 minutes away from Lewisville. The Fourth of July Jubilee taking place on July 3 allows families to enjoy activities like games, face painting, pony rides, artists, rock climbing, and bull riding. This event also hosts a hot dog eating contest and several food trucks for refreshments. The Liberty 5K Run and Walk also takes place on July 3, and you can register for the race during June. When you register for the race, you receive a T-shirt and race bag.
City of Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration
At the City of Farmers Branch Historical Park on July 1, you can celebrate the holiday with your family by enjoying the fireworks and free activities 30 minutes away from Lewisville. The event is free for residents and only costs $5 for nonresidents. Some free activities for kids include balloon art, amusement rides, patriotic characters, and airbrush tattoos.
You can get a great holiday meal at this city’s celebration by swinging by a vendor stand. The event hosts may include popular local places like Nuevo Leon Mex Mex, Bartley’s BBQ, Blackberry Winter Creamery, and Taylor’s Sweetshop. With live entertainment and a wide variety of food like BBQ, corn dogs, and shaved ice, there’s plenty to do at the Independence Day Celebration.
Frisco Freedom Fest
For a comprehensive Independence Day event, take a 40-minute road trip with the whole family over to the Frisco Freedom Fest. The festivities begin on July 3 with the Hotter ‘n Firecrackers 5K Glow Run. You can register for the glow race prior to the event. On the Fourth of July, you can watch fireworks sparked by the City of Frisco. You can also enjoy the Taste of Frisco on Independence Day, which is a food vendor event that brings a variety of local flavors to a one-stop shop.
The Frisco Freedom Fest is a foodie’s paradise, as the event gathers a hefty list of vendors to offer a wide variety of goods. Popular options to try include pizza, shaved ice, gourmet popsicles, and kettle corn. Some examples of vendors include Kona Ice, Fruit Land, Tender Smokehouse, Chef Donta, The PINK Company, and Ms. Bettie’s Gumbo.
Liberty Fun Run
The Liberty Fun Run is a family event that offers something for people of all ages this Fourth of July. The event includes races for all levels of athletes, from the 1 Mile Fun Run to the 5K and 10K races. The 5K race is meant for all walkers and runners to enjoy, while the 10K race is limited to those who can maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile. If you love staying active and participating in community events, consider adding the Liberty Fun Run — just 20 minutes away in The Colony — to your roster of Independence Day events.
Roanoke’s 3rd of July All American Fireworks Festival
Festivities for Roanoke’s 3rd of July All American Fireworks Festival begin on July 3 at 5 p.m. The activities include a pie-eating contest, live music, and classic grill-out dining options like hotdogs, hamburgers, and barbecue. There will also be free grilled corn and watermelon, carnival games, inflatables, entertainment, dance team performances, transportation, flags, and glow sticks.
Some food and dessert vendors at this event include Famous Fatso’s Burgers, Hot Potato and Hot Dogs, Smiley’s BBQ, Pokey O’s, Kona Ice, Frios Pops, and Denmore Delights. After a long day of celebrating, you can settle down and watch the fireworks display that usually starts just after 9 p.m. Entertain the little ones too with face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon artists, and stilt walkers.
Southlake Stars & Stripes
This year’s Southlake Town Square Stars & Stripes event begins at 3 p.m. on July 3. There are three locations to find activities for this event, including the Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park, McPherson Park, and Rustin Pavillion. Some fun examples include live music, fireworks shows, and patriotic ceremonies. Parking is free, and you can take advantage of the free shuttle service to and from the events. Town of Little Elm July Jubilee
The July Jubilee in Little Elm Park features two simultaneous fireworks shows, plus local vendors, live music, and activities. You can purchase parking passes for the event or camping passes if you’d like to camp in Little Elm Park. When you visit the park for this event, be sure to leave your pets at home, avoid fishing in the park, leave the grills unlit and only bring plastic or paper containers. No glass containers are permitted in the park during the event to promote the safety of all visiting guests.
