Fat Cow BBQ

Two friends with a passion for delicious barbecue and service with a smile started Fat Cow BBQ. The business started by offering corporate catering. However, as demand for the barbecue continued to grow, it quickly became apparent that the friends would have to open a physical space. The first Fat Cow BBQ restaurant was 960 square feet and had three small tables. Today, the popular Lewisville barbecue joint has a sit-down restaurant that can accommodate more than 100 people.

All of the meats at this award-winning restaurant are smoked to perfection on-site. When you’re ready to savor some of this tasty barbecue, consider popular options like the sliced or chopped brisket, jalapeno sausage, beef sausage, hot links, sliced ham, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and baby back ribs. For the perfect ending to your meal, go with the peach cobbler, banana pudding, slice of pecan pie, or slice of apple pie for dessert.

Sullivan Texas BBQ

Sullivan Texas BBQ smokes its meat the old-fashioned way. That means the restaurant smokes in a pit using only post oak wood. This creates a clean smoke that makes the meat juicy, tender, and full of flavor. If you’re stopping by for lunch, consider the pulled pork sandwich or prime brisket sandwich. Another popular option is the Texas Sandwich, which includes prime brisket, sausage, and pulled pork topped with jalapenos and coleslaw.

If you’re in the mood for something specific, the one-meat plate lets you choose from prime brisket, turkey, pulled pork, or sausage. Can’t decide which delicious meat you want to enjoy? Then order the two-meat plate and select two of your favorites. If you’re ordering for a big group, you can also get your meat by the pound. The smoked turkey breast and smoked prime brisket come in sizes that range from five pounds to 10 pounds. Sullivan Texas BBQ is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Old House BBQ

Old House BBQ is a traditional pit barbecue restaurant that carefully prepares and cooks its meats each day to deliver the best quality and flavor. The cooks use only choice cuts of meat that come directly from local ranches and farms, including the best cuts for their award-winning brisket, open-range pigs for the ribs and ham, and free-range turkeys and chickens.

Some of the popular menu items at the restaurant are the barbecue rib plate, Big Tex sandwich, barbecue sliders, three-meat platter, and pulled pork sandwich. Your meal also includes your choice of two sides, with options like onion rings, smoked beans, pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw, jalapeno pinto beans, and a twice-baked potato. Make sure you save room for dessert so you can savor some of the peach cobbler, banana pudding, or a slice of homemade pie.

If you’re feeding a group, consider one of the family packs. Your options include everything from the Mini Pack that has one pound of meat, two sides, and four rolls to the Large Pack, which has three pounds of meat, four sides, and eight rolls. Old House BBQ is open seven days a week for dine-in eating. You can also call ahead to place a takeout order.

Hard Eight BBQ

Hard Eight BBQ is a family-owned and operated barbecue spot that first opened in Stephenville in 2003. The Texas-style barbecue that comes straight from the pit became so popular that the restaurant soon expanded to other locations in the area, including a spot just 7 miles east of Lewisville in The Colony.

Some of the outstanding barbecue items on the Hard Eight menu include pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken half, regular or jalapeno sausage, turkey, and ham. You’ll also find a nice variety of side dishes, such as the jalapeno sweet corn, coleslaw, potato salad, and potato stuffed with brisket, sausage, ham, or turkey. You’ll even find a variety of other menu offerings, including shrimp poppers, chicken poppers, a 16-ounce rib-eye, and pork chops.

Plus, everyone will be able to satisfy his or her sweet tooth with one of the restaurant’s decadent desserts. You can treat yourself to banana pudding, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate pecan pie, Oreo mud pie, whiskey buttermilk pie, or cherry, apple, blackberry, or peach cobbler. Hard Eight BBQ is open seven days a week for dine-in eating. The restaurant also has to-go and curbside takeout options available.
