Here’s a list of family-friendly events for all to enjoy in Lewisville.

Lewisville and the surrounding towns, along with Dallas-Fort Worth, are full of fantastic Christmas displays that you can see while driving around in your new vehicle from Huffines CJDR. Many homeowners in the subdivisions around the area love to go all out with their lighting displays, and many feature shows with music you can listen to while you’re in your car. Fortunately, you don’t have to go very far when it comes to finding local displays of light as the tri-town area of Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Highland village all have homes with excellent light displays.
Old Town Holiday Stroll
The first Saturday in December marks the annual Old Town Holiday Stroll that starts at 7 a.m. and goes until 9 p.m. You and your family can spend the entire day in Old Town Lewisville to partake in the events. The day starts with a pancake breakfast with Santa at Wayne Ferguson Plaza, then closes out with the Movie in the Plaza at the end of a long and exhilarating day. Some of the events that are held during the stroll include pony rides, a Polar Express Train, carriage rides, fine art classes, and a scavenger hunt.
Make sure to be lined up along Main Street at 8 a.m. for the 21st Annual Motorcycle Toy Run. Feel the rumble of the motorcycles participating in the run as they bring donations. You’ll want to come back later in the day at 5:30 p.m. for the Lewisville Lights! Tree Lighting Ceremony at Wayne Ferguson Plaza and kick off the countdown to Christmas.
Kids Christmas Bird Count
The Christmas Bird Count generates invaluable data for tracking bird populations every year. It’s an event that’s been going on for 119 years and has been introducing kids to the art of bird watching and counting since its inception. In fact, it’s the longest-running science survey in the world. The event is put on by LLELA Lewisville Lake, and takes place on Jones Street at the edge of Lewisville Lake on Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There is an entry fee of $5 per person and $5 per vehicle.
Huffines Christmas Parade
The Huffines Christmas Parade is part of the Old Town Holiday Stroll, and it runs from noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2021. The hour-long parade consists of entries from local businesses and private parties who want to show off their holiday spirit. Participants dress up their floats to dazzle onlookers, and vintage vehicles are more than welcome. Main & Mill is offering a prize for the entry with the “Most Holiday Spirit,” which means that participants are sure to go all out when it comes to decorating their entries.
Elf the Musical
The Actors Conservatory Theatre is putting on a production of “Elf The Musical” on the weekends of Dec. 3-5 and 10-12, 2021. Based on the movie of the same name, the musical features songs written by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, bringing a bit of Broadway to Lewisville. Elf is perfect for families with its sweet tale of a misfit elf who goes to New York City to find his real father.
The storyline of Elf follows an elf named Buddy who crawled into Santa’s bag of presents when he was a baby and was taken back to the North Pole. He was raised with the elves, but as he grew, it became apparent he wasn’t an elf, but a human instead. Santa gives him permission to find his father and find out who he really is. When Buddy learns his father is on the naughty list, and his half-brother doesn’t believe in Santa, Buddy sets out to change their mind and make them see the true meaning of Christmas.
Cookies and Castles Frisco
On December 4, 2021, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Scottish Rite for Children and Tri Delta Foundation are hosting a drive-through Gingerbread Decorating Extravaganza where families can come and pick up a gingerbread house kit for decorating at home. The kit includes a gingerbread house, icing to put it all together, and candy for the final touches. Also for sale are items such as an apron, T-shirt, and an ornament to represent the fun memories.
The event began in Fort Worth in 2001, expanded to Dallas, then broadened to Frisco. The event is a sell-out every year, and the proceeds are donated to the Scottish Rite for Children and Tri Delta Foundation. The Scottish Rite for Children is one of the leading pediatric orthopedic centers in the nation, and funds raised by the event go to the prosthetics department to help children in need. Tri Delta Foundation supports women seeking an education to help better the lives of others.
Kid’s Night Out
This is an opportunity for kids to blow off some steam a week before Christmas and give their parents a chance to do last-minute Christmas shopping. Drop your kids off for a few hours on December 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Flower Mound CAC so they can swim, have a pizza party, and watch a movie until you get back.
