The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a capable SUV that comes well-equipped even at the base level, but it’s also easy to upgrade and get even more. The 2019 model has some changes including a new Limited X special edition model, and the Limited trim and above come standard with the larger touch screen display. In addition to what you get with the base level Grand Cherokee, here are some of the best upgrades.
Bumping up from the base Laredo model to the Limited or above will get you an 8.4-inch touch screen. You can also get additional USB ports and a navigation system. Jeep makes a rear-seat entertainment system with two screens available as an option to help keep the kids entertained on road trips. You can also upgrade the stereo to either a nine-speaker Alpine system or a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system.
A rearview camera comes standard in all the Grand Cherokee models, but extra, more advanced safety systems are available upgrades. You can get a self-parking system, and the adaptive cruise control with stop will adjust your speed to make sure you stay within a certain distance from the vehicle in front of you. Blind-spot monitoring with a rear cross-path detection system is also available, along with the Lanesense lane departure warning system that comes with lane keep assist, and Jeep’s full-speed forward collision warning with active braking.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is the off-road-focused model and comes with extra features for drivers who like to take their trips off the beaten path. You can get off-road tires, a four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing, and a selectable terrain system for traction control. This Grand Cherokee also has an adjustable air suspension system along with skid plates, tow hooks, and an electronic rear differential.
The base Grand Cherokee comes with a capable 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 295 horsepower. By upgrading to one of the higher trims, you can get a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 204 horsepower or a 5.7-liter V-8 that generates 360 horsepower. The SRT model has even more power with its 6.4-liter V-8 engine that will get 475 horsepower, and the performance-focused Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that will get you 707 horsepower and deliver 645 pound-feet of torque.
Some of the features you can get in the cabin of your Grand Cherokee include heated front seats, heated rear seats, and leather upholstery. The high-end Summit model comes with upgraded leather, and it adds the upgraded stereo system. The Trackhawk has perforated Laguna leather wrapping on the reserve door trim, along with the front seats and the lower panels. It also comes with ventilated front seats and premium upgrades that include open-pore wood trim, and the option for anodized metal accents for a premium look.
